Slide Strainer
The Tissue-Tek® Prisma®/Film® provides users with an easy-to-use platform that combines routine staining, special stain techniques, and coverslipping…all in one fully integrated system. The Tissue-Tek® Prisma® allows continuous loading of up to 60 slides at a time with a throughput of up to 500 slides per hour. It offers easy programming and instant visual tracking of staining runs with touch-sensitive color screens, and enables concurrent runs of routine H&E and special stains protocols. It works just as efficiently for cytology protocols. And streamlining your daily workflow has never been easier: with the expanded reservoir configuration, up to 51 stations can be utilized to run smaller sets of 20 slides at a time for the most even distribution of slides throughout the day, fitting workflow patterns for the most demanding labs. The Tissue-Tek® Film® uses a unique adhesive-backed polymer to protect the slides and provide long-term stability. While the Tissue-Tek® Prisma®/Film® maximizes productivity when used as a combined system through a robotic link, labs can choose to operate each instrument independently.

7RepliesInvalid Date | Tissue-Tek Prisma/Film motor error concerning coverslip tape jam Hi Team I have been trying desperately to problem solve a daily/weekly issue with this coverslipper - to the point where the actual tech who comes to the lab who is contracted to fix the issues, has liaised with me about the issue and is telling me that I am doing the right thing with maintenance, and solving the issue (usually I can clear it, but with one CS2 it is just constantly jamming. So what happens is it comes up with the motor error, and I see that no slides have actually been coverslipped - and back toward where the wheel 7 is connected to the little black wheel, it seems to build up glue? I can literally dry touch it with my gloves and it sticks to it at the black wheel. So I’ve been cleaning the wheels with xylene as it’s shut off to allow wheel separation and movement, but the issue persists. And that issue is after that movement of the film through this particular stage, it is somehow doubling over, instead of ejecting the film onto each slide. I’ve tested it with say, 5 blank slides, after the clean, and the build up of film is horrendous. I’m not sure how I can post a picture of this to accurately show what is going on, but it is currently doing my head in, and it’s almost like the tech doesn’t know what he’s doing either, so it’s been left to me, the only sci who knows how to fiddle around with it. I have to twist my forceps around at the end before the blade to actually remove these doubled/tripled/9000 film build ups that occur, changing the entire tape does nothing, so that leads me to believe that there’s something going on underneath the stage that the film slides through as it gets to the point of glue dispensing (or am I wrong with where the glue gets dispensed here, I am not formally educated on the machine, this is all me trying desperately to problem solve the machine time and time again without much help of the company contacted tech). To be clear, the stage I am talking about is metal with black (plastic?) screwed down, and as you press the film button on the machine, sometimes I hear it clanging and pushing the film too fast (is that an issue to be addressed?) it usually stops when I cease and wait, then slowly press the button again. It comes out fine as I do this, but I do notice this “streaking” on the film that I touch, and again, it is often sticky. So that also leads me to believe that this is somehow a glue dispensing issue, or I actually need to unscrew that stage and see what’s going on underneath there. I hope I have explained myself thoroughly enough as I have to go try and take this machine back out of order tomorrow morning and get it fixed within 30 minutes which is my current permitted timeframe to perform weekly maintenance on the machine. The other issue I guess is undertrained staff trying to fix it themselves as I am too busy doing my routine work and boss is more concerned that I keep my kpis than ensuring the machine health of a very expensive piece of equipment - but we have talked about holding some sort of meeting about how to properly handle the machine. Any replies, advice, recommendations, help would be absolutely, and desperately appreciated at this stage as it is ruining my life, haha. This is my first post, unsure of what is allowed regarding to pictures or if possible to upload, so if that also could be clarified that would be great. Just wish to show how I mean by the film doubling over before it gets to the blade, and the result of film build up that I have to clear out of that. Thank you to any and all, wish me luck, I need it :( Kind Regards, Dan Reply |
