Fluke 52 User's Manual

I have an older Fluke 52 K/J thermometer (not a Series II) without a user's manual and I cannot figure out how to utilize the min/max/avg feature.  If you have a manual or know the procedure please enlighten me.  I've located the service manual but it merely refers one to the user's manual for operation.
