What are some good calibrators for checking accuracy of temporal and infrared patient thermometers?

I am trying to do a check on on some new units and I can't get the battery to kick in since it is a part of the operational verification. I tried just unplugging the unit while it was on, or trying to press the power "button" while it was not plugged in. Any help it appreciated. Thank you.

Hi: We have had the Exergen TAT 5000 temporal Thermometers in our hospital for several years without many problems. We had to send a few back for repairs (say 1 or so per month). Now that the units are cleaning them more often because of Covid, and because they are having troubles sourcing the usual Cavi-wipes that were used to clean these, we are seeing about 15 to 20 per month with problems. Some we can revive, but most we have to ship back. Are others running into similar problems? Also: Our Emergency department wants to go to a non-contact infrared thermometers. Does nay one have a brand they can recommend?

I wanted to know what your experience was with this product in terms of longevity. How long does it last before any issues or defects arise?

Most of our TAT vs Axillary temperatures are about 0.3-0.4 degrees different but occasionally get a more varied comparison. Is it most likely due to user error?

Bard CritiCore.....PPPP error code on start up. No information on possible causes or fixes in manual. Where might I find some answers?

We have recently had a number of criticore units that came to our shop DOA. The current service literature is useless for the version we have. Bard has been equally useless in providing support, with the exception of having us send units in for "factory repair"

has anyone else encountered this?

What else should I know? Measure only the side of the head that is exposed. Any covering, hair, hat, etc. will prevent the heat from dissipating, and would cause the reading to be falsely high. This also applies if one side of the head is into a pillow. Slide the thermometer in a reasonably straight line across the forehead, midway between the eyebrows and the upper hairline, and not down the side of the face. Midway on the forehead area, the temporal artery is less than 2 millimeters below the skin surface, but down the side of the face, it is much deeper and less accurately measured. You should also know you have purchased the gentlest and most accurate method of temperature assessment in the world. www.exergen.com
