Physicist found Timer Accuracy does not meet MFG spec. How do you re-calibrate the generator to fixed Timer Accuracy on a GE MVP Micro Rad room ?

When large focal spot is selected, the rotor will not spin.  when switched back to small focal spot, the unit works fine.  I suspect a bad tube, but was curious if there were some other things i could check first.  I am without a service manual or any technical help.   thanks in advance for any help
