I'm at a small critical access hospital.  I am the only Respiratory therapist so the nurses do most of the vent care.  We have three NewPort HT70's.  One of the nursing departments are having problems doing circuit checks.  Each nursing area (ICU, Recovery room and ER) do curcuit checks each shift.  We've had the vents for close to a year and one of the nursing departments has had a problem with the circuit checks.  It will pass one shift but not pas for the next.  Over the past week it has failed 8 times (only once did we change the circuit).  Does this issue have anything to do with the frequency to which we check the circuit?
