  Bausch & Lomb was founded in 1853. With respect to laboratory equipment, Bausch & Lomb's specialty is spectrophotometers.    Bausch & Lomb manufactured its first spectrophotometer in 1952, the SPECTRONIC 20. The unit is rugged, accurate and easy to use and holds up as the most affordable spectrophotometer of its kind. Because of its success as a simple, practical laboratory instrument for basic testing and teaching, the laboratory equipment division was purchased by Thermo Scientific over fifty years ago and has become a classic.    Now sold under Thermo Scientific: SPECTRONIC 20+ and 20D+
