Light source is Strobing

When scope is connected an set to auto light it has a strobe affect.  It works fine on manual, but auto just keeps flickering.  Bulb is new!  Anyone run in to this before if so how did you fix?  I have reseated connection and it went away for a period only to return.

It happened to us before, I believe it was the ignitor.

I would give olympus a call.

Thanks Gary,  The shutter (thin metal piece in front of bulb) keeps bouncing up and down causing the strobe effect.  Does the ignitor control this?

Nope, the ignitor lights the bulb.

You should call Olympus

Olympus is anti-peopleotherthanthem-fixin stuff, so they do not let manuals or schematics out too often. You might be able to pry a digital copy from a sales rep, but that is hit or miss. Sounds like a controller issue, if my memory serves this can sometimes happen when there is an issue with the lite meter/sensor or associated board... just a guess however.

Calling Olympus is a good idea... maybe the holiday spirit will move them enough to provide some literature that actually will help you in repairing it.

Maybe I'm too late, have you checked the ( light control cable) between the light source and camera control cable?

If you give us a feedback that would be great.

Thanks
