Gas lid stay

Hello,

We are looking for help to replace a gas lid stay on one Multifuge 1S centrifuge. Do you have a technical procedure for it?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

It looks very similar to the 3-S, for which you will find a service manual on this site (http://photos.medwrench.com/equipmentManuals/2181-4610.pdf). The diagram on page 6-5 is helpful.

The manual says to remove the lid and the top casing (top of page 5-2), but I have been able to replace the stays without doing that. I would follow the directions about removing and reinserting the hinge pins (or joint bolts, as they call them), though.

Remove the screws holding the rubber boot, remove the top hinge pin, remove the lower block screws from the back panel, and withdraw the stay. Prop the lid open or have someone hold it for you.

Transfer the lower block to the new stay, insert it into the casing opening so that it slides down flat against the inside of the back of the casing, line it up and reinstall the screws. Put the boot on the new stay and reinstall the screws and top pin, per directions.

If the lower stay attachment isn't a block held to the casing with screws, there may be a removable back panel that will give you access. If not, you might have to remove the lid and top casing after all.

If all else fails, ThermoFisher tech support can help you out.

Jeff
