AVS Vent with no display

Has anyone encountered a vent display that is unresponsive? It is model AV-S (ventilator). I'm being told it is main board, and will cost around $5500 for board. On top of that it may require "an updated video board", for $2200. This is a refurbished unit, around 2 yrs old. Not sure of model year. Here are my questions:

1) Is this cost fair?

2) Should I pay cost, or consider a refurbished ohmeda of drager unit? This machine was extremely lightly used. I'm talking about...we NEVER used it for a case!

3) Is there an alternative to having a full on digital vent monitor with all the vent modes?

Thanks

Denis

Main board are not that expensive. My customers in NY paid about 1800.00 for theirs. (two machines failed within days of each other. (anesthesiologist kill them) check with your local Penlon authorized Rep.

As for the vent options, depends on what type of surgery you perform at your facility, Plastic surgery wont require more than CMV and Pressure Suppport and maybe SIMV (if you have a lazy anesthisioligist or CRNA.

Most modern vents are digital and because of parts and service support i'd stay away from older machines such as Ohmeda  Mod II plus series with 7000, 7800 and 7810 series vents.

if you are condidering buying a Datex such as Aestiva 5 PSV Pro series, they can be picked up for around 10K fullly refurbished with warranty. And there are plenty of well qualified people out there to service these machines.

in my experience stay away from Dragger, They dont play well with others (third party vendors or techs)

Thanks for the response. The cost you state is obviously much less than what I've been quoted. With the main board you're quoting price of, does that require any sort of additional updated video board for vent monitor display? I want to be fair with vendor, but also want them to be fair with us. Knowledge is power.

I was quoted about 1800.00 for the main board about 3 months ago from the factory.

Additional cost will also cover the installation and recalibration that is required after installation. and that cost is that the discretion of the installing company but it shouldn't be more that 1000.00

There is a good chance that the video board will not have to be upgraded. saving you money.

PS. sorry for the daly I was on vocation
