waveform on CO2 strange

We have 2 of these datascope passport units.  On one of the units the wave form for the CO2 has a funny "U" type of dip in the top of the waveform.   Does anyone know what this is?

Dear Freelance,

Thank you for your continued interest in Mindray products and services. I will make several assumptions in order to answer your question about the CO2 waveform anomaly you are seeing. I will assume this is a Passport 2 monitor with Oridion MicroStream CO2 - NOT a Gas Module - as the CO2 source, the "dip" is in the plateau - not the rising or falling edge of the plateau and the CO2 has been recently calibrated or verified as accurate to within specification.

The most likely cause of this dip in the waveform is a pneumatic disturbance caused by an irregular scavenging vacuum or defective CO2 sample pump. Check the scavenging system and verify a consistent vacuum of .5mmHg to 1mmHg with no rapid changes or 'spikes'. If your scavenging vacuum is good and my earlier assumptions regarding the monitor are correct, then I would recommend replacing the CO2 module in the Passport 2. I will be able to give you the correct part number for a replacement CO2 module if you provide the serial number of the monitor.

If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
