Hi

Usually clean and disinfect with chlorhexidine and alcohol...with soft gauze 

Then in sterile container use some gaseous disinfectant, like formaldehyde. 

The probe can also be sterile in any liquid 

But the connection end should be kept dry 

Autoclaves , chemical,  maybe ok but I not tried it.
