Booting and shutting down problem

I have a logiq A5 which intermittently doesn't boot up it shows blue screen with message"the bios in the system is not fully ACPI compliant" and also it does't shut down it has to turn down forcefully by pressing shutdown key for few seconds.

I tried reloading the software but it didn't work.

Appreciate if any one could help me out.

Hi Mohammed,

I've never seen a logiq A5, but I have seen a logiq P5 and as far as I know they are similiar.  Also, I dont have much experience with the logiq P5, but from general ultrasound system troubleshooting, it sounds like a back end issue.  Since you have already reloaded software for the system we can eliminate that.

I was trying to look for an A5 service manual on the GE Support Document, but it doesn't look like they have one.  They do have a P5 manual, u can find it at the GE website here http://apps.gehealthcare.com/servlet/ClientServlet?REQ=RNEW&MODALITY=US.

From a quick look at the manual it looks like you may have a bad SYSCONCM.  Thats the main backend processor board, pretty much the computer that runs the back end.

Try that, and if you would like any more help you can contact Conquest Imaging at 866-900-9404

I did a little more research into this and found that there's a rom chip that you should remove and replace with the old one, because it holds the serial number to the system.  When you swapped boards the system didn't recognize the serial number of the new board, so that was the cause of the system asking for the license key.

If you go into the service manual on page 327, it shows the location of the rom chip you need to remove and tells you how to remove.  As always, I advise that you should have an esd strap to make sure you dont damage the rom chip and board.

Becareful if you're going to attempt this, don't bend any pins or damage other IC's on the board.

The BIOS has a bug or is out of date to work with this version of Windows. The issue relates to the configuration and power interface and plug-and-play abilities of the BIOS.

Some older versions of Windows will show the description as "ACPI_BIOS_ERROR"

This is a fatal Windows error, typically called a Stop message, Bug Check, or more commonly the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD). The system is in a forced reboot state. Any unsaved work is likely lost.

Try Updating you BIOS. for more information about this try looking here : www.techyv.com/questions/what-bios-and-how-it-can-be-updated
