I found the battery, it's a Snaphat Timekeeper and if the procedure is the same for the SSD-5500, once I install the new battery I need to turn on a DIP switch to copy the data from the hard drive to the flash memory - the only question is what DIP switch is it on the SSD-3500. If the placement of the DIP switch has any correlation, it looks like it would be JP3 or JP4 but I'd prefer not to blindly guess.
Install new battery, set switch to on, turn on machine and it copies the data to the flash memory, once copied, turn off machine, reset dip switch, turn on machine, pat yourself on the back...

Hi, I have a PDF copy of the service manual for the SSD-3500 Plus unit, but I don't see how I can attacch it on this email.
Send me a request on my personal email: mariolm69@hotmail.com and I will try to send it to you that way if it works.

MarioLM , you are my hero of the month and more than likely will have helped many a future veterinarian. The tophat battery should be here today and without your help, we'd have been left to guesswork which we weren't very comfortable with. Sending you an email now.
Sincerely, thank you
