Rotors

Hello, Do the rotors have to change after a # of spin cycles? How can you know how many spins a rotor has completed so far? Thank you for your time.

This information is from a different model, but it may be the same:

The use of certain rotors, hangers and accessory parts is limited by time. These are marked with the maximum permitted number of operating cycles or with an expiration date and the  maximum permitted number of operating cycles or just with the expiration date; e.g.:
- "einsetzbar bis Ende: IV. Quartal 2011 / usable until end of: IV. Quarter 2011" or
"einsetzbar bis Ende Monat/Jahr: 10/2011 / usable until end of month/year: 10/2011"
- "Max. Lauf Zyklen / max. cycles: 40000".

Each time the lid is opened, the number of rotor cycles (centrifugation runs) of the current rotor code is displayed,
e.g. CYCLES 5120 of 30000.

If the entered maximum permitted number of rotor cycles of a hanger is exceeded, the message * MAX CYCLES

PASSED * is displayed after every start to the centrifugation run and the centrifugation run has to be restarted.

Hello,

The rotor AND BUCKETS should be replaced once they have reached their maximum amount of use. This varies by the average speed they are used at for the majority of work. Unfortunately, there is no cycle counter. There is, however, a control hours counter that runs when the motor is spinning. This can be used to determine (roughly) the amount of cycles completed. Quick and simplified example:

Centrifuge is set to do only 15 minute runs. That means that the hour counter will advance one hour every 4 runs (4 x 15 = 60 mins)

Then, when you poll the hours counter and you see (for example) 1000 control hours, we can estimate that there have been 4000 runs completed.

This gets a little more "fuzzy" when the centrifuge has mixed use (some 15 minute runs, some 5 minute runs, etc) Also, there are levels of use speeds that dictate how many cycles can be completed before a change is needed.

Please contact me at service@hettweb.com for more specific help on your centrifuge.

Thank you!
