flickering bulb

The unit's bulb was replaced after burning out. New bulb burnt out again was replaced again. Now a new bulb was placed in there and it is giving a dim pulsating light.

It sounds like you're circuit board is going bad. Nikon no longer makes parts for the E400 or E600 model. You have two options:

1) Upgrade the end user to an LED Retrofit Kit

2) Replace the frame, stage, and nosepiece with the current Ci Series components and move over the end users optics, head, and condenser.
