When the green progress bar gets approximately half way, it turns red and the machine shuts down. Has anybody had this experience?

Try removing the standby battery (may have 1 or 2 batteries depending on option) located in the bottom of the power supply. I had an Epiq 7 doing the same thing a few weeks ago that had a bad battery. Booted fine with battery removed. Replaced with a new battery and havent had anymore problems.
