Unit is dead - cannot get it to switch on

Have replaced batteries and checked connections. Everything seems to be in order and yet nothing. This unit is only a couple of months old. Why else can I try to get it working?

Check that the batteries are inserted correctly and that there is no corrosion on the battery connections. Beyond that I would contact the manufacturer about a warranty if is only a few months old.
