Has anyone ever experienced dimming of the monitor during an ultrasound? We have this problem and we were told that it was due to voltage drops. I'm not so sure about that. Does this model use a VGA or DVI monitor? I'm thinking it may have something to do with the video card (if it's the same as the technology on a computer)

Monitor on Medison Sono Ace 8000
Mon Jan 10 2011Reply from GaryBiomed
We had a similar problem with a GE logic 9. It ended up being the power supply.
I've never looked at a Sono Ace but most systems are similar to a PC or have a PC inside of them running windows or linux.
It's either a VGA, DVI, or BNC connector. They have adapters from one to another.
You can probably plug an external power cord right into the back of the monitor. At least to rule out a bad monitor...

Hi Gary,
Thanks for your reply and I'll have to check out your suggestion on Wednesday when I'm back at our Center. The odd thing is that this does not happen when viewing the sono pictures but only when doing a sono in real time. I'm beginning to think it's the 2D transducer and we're going to try using the 2D first and when the problem presents itself (which it doesn't always do), quickly switch to the 3D transducer (which has only been used a few times) to see if the dimming clears up.
If you hear anything more on this problem, please pass along any suggestions you may come by.
Thanks so much,
Jeanette
