Hand-wheel not turning 360 degrees

The hand-wheel of my Leica RM2125 RTS turns only 180 degrees (9-3 O'clock). It makes a clangy metallic sound at 9 and 3 O'clock and will not go any further. The tissue holder can still be advanced and retracted using the coarse wheel on the left. Have anybody had this experience? or can anyone help me out on this. This equipment is about 2 years old with minimal use .

Hi, were you ever able to figure out this problem, we are having the same issue.

If the object holder is not hitting anything, then you'll have to take the case off to see what is interfering. Or at least remove the handwheel - you might be able to see enough (with handwheel removed) to determine what is going on.

Hi, thank you we thought this was likely the next step. Do you know if the top case can be easily popped off, or do we have to remove the screws from the bottom of the microtome? Thanks!

If I recall, on that microtome, in order to remove the case, you would have to remove the handwheel, the coarse advance/retract wheel, the knob for micron setting, and four screws underneath. And, I think, the object holder, as well. Some Leica cases are split in the middle, allowing removal without doing all of those, but I don't think that the 2125 is among those.
