Good day. Just found this chat. Hope it will help you.

E73 – Vacuum Sensor Failure Error 4XL 5XL 5XLe 8XL

Facts:

1) Looks at Pressure Sensor

2) Conditions for error: Pressure is 1100 mbar and GAS IS PRESENT.

3) 5XLe: Conditions for error: In the final vacuum, the sterilizer pumps down to 160 mbars and makes notes. Continues to pump down for additional 3 minutes. If pressure is not 5 mbars lower, the error is asserted.

4) Chamber is LOCKED

Cause: 24 volt power output out of specification or failed.

Solution: 1) Adjust the 24 volt power supply. 4XL/5XL/5XLe/8XL: Voltage to be 24.00 +/- .50 V at J10-5. 5XLe/8XL: Make sure REF on Help Screen is 2.50 +/- 0.04.

2) Make sure current POT is adjusted fully clockwise.

3) If voltage or REF fluctuates, replace failed power supply.

Cause:             Connections to the 24 volt power supply or controller board are loose.

Solution:         Verify all connections between the power supply and controller board are secure. Verify all connections to 24 volt power supply are secure.

Cause: Vacuum solenoid failure.

Solution: Replace vacuum solenoid.

Cause: Pressure Sensor failure.

Solution: Replace the pressure sensor. Note: If the sensor has to be replaced, make sure vacuum is running to continually pull air into the chamber.

This is a good safety procedure! This can be done by actuating Vacuum solenoid from DIP switch or Test menu.

Cause: Pressure sensor has filled up with condensation from the chamber humidity. This could cause an intermittent failure.

Solution: Replace pressure sensor and rotate such that sensor is on top of “T” fitting. Note: If the sensor has to be replaced, make sure vacuum is

running to continually pull air into the chamber. This is a good safety procedure! This can be done by actuating Vacuum solenoid from DIP switch or Test menu.

Cause: Pressure sensor wiring problem.

Solution: Ensure wiring between pressure sensor and controller is good.

Cause: Dirty or clogged Venturi.

Solution: Clean venturi or replace if non-functional.

Cause: Back pressure on Venturi caused by “T” fittings in vent line, conflict between sterilizers, or different size piping in vent line.

Solution: Ensure all vent line piping is correct. Replace all “T” fittings with “Y” fittings. If two sterilizers are on the same vent line, check Dead End

vacuum when both sterilizers are in pump down.

Cause: Insufficient compressed air.

Solution: Increase air supply from the compressor. Adjust the regulator to 50 to 60 psi. Make sure compressed air switch is set at 20 – 25 psi.

Cause: Controller Board failure.

Solution: Replace the controller board.

Cause: Sterilizer controller failure due to power line EMI/RFI interference.

Solution: Install an EMI/RFI filter on the main power.

Notes: 1) If the EMI/RFI interference is of a short duration, the error can be cleared by turning the main power OFF for several seconds and then

back ON again.

2) This error does not allow the user access to the sterilizer.

3) When the error occurs, the sterilizer automatically does the following: a) Stops the timer; b) Closes the vent and pulls the puncture pin

down; c) Turns the Chamber heaters off (but maintains the heatsink at cycle temperature) and turns of the vacuum for 18 minutes; d) Stops

updating the temperatures and pressures on the display.

4) To clear error message: a) DO NOT cycle power; b) Fix the source of the problem; c) Place SW1 switches to invoke the Clear Silent

Abort procedure; d) After Clear Silent Abort starts, place SW1 switches into Normal Mode; e) When Clear Silent Abort is complete, the

screen clears and displays the error, the report stops printing and the chamber parameters return to the display.

5) 5XLe/8XL: If there is an E9 or E78 (Abator Lock Out Error) during Clear Silent Abort, the pump down and purge sequence do not

take place. Instead, the sterilizer either immediately returns to Idle (E9) or continues the cycle (E78).

6) If an error code is still displayed after the gas is removed from the chamber, fix the problem associated with that error code and then

clear the error by following the proper procedure for that error code.
