Gendex 8500 dde will not go up or down, no laser light,

Anybody have any experience fixing successfully a broken Gendex 8500dde.

might just need a new touchpad - I had the same problem.
There are after market touchpads available.
Main pad is on the column - if that does not work then touchpad on head also will not work.
