Purchased all 20 batteries, but now I can't find the trick to access the battery compartment to proceed with replacement.

You need to take off both side covers and the detector storage bin. Behind where the spare batteries charge is the battery banks. Ensure the breakers are off before trying to access the battery compartments. It's not difficult just a little time consuming.
