The DVR message can be ignored. However, this sounds like the system is getting the power down signal from either the USB interface behind the DVD drive or the power and signal board on the wall of the backend.
I have seen where fluid infiltration and corrosion from Cavi-wipes being set on the side under the monitor articulation arm which causes the fluid to leak down into that area.
You need to eliminate a failing power supply first. Software controlled equipment with many components controlled by the software need to boot up each component in a sequence. As each component boots up, more load is applied to the power supply and to the various power supply voltage rails. A weakened power supply could fail during the boot up sequence, in your case, during the video recorder boot up.
