When a GE HealthCare Millennium MC Myosight unit goes down hard due to a power outage, especially while still in Cardiac Geometry, it can cause errors such as VG (Volume Geometry) errors that prevent calibration. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Steps to Resolve VG Errors on GE Millennium MC Myosight
Initial Power Cycle:
Turn off the unit and wait for at least 5 minutes.
Turn the unit back on to see if the VG errors clear on a simple reboot.
Check for Damage:
Inspect the hardware for any visible signs of damage or loose connections that might have occurred during the power outage.
Ensure all cables and connectors are securely plugged in.
Diagnostic Mode:
Access the diagnostic mode of the Millennium MC Myosight unit.
Run a full diagnostic to identify specific issues and error codes beyond just the VG errors.
Resetting Geometry:
If the unit has a reset option for the cardiac geometry or VG system, perform a reset to see if it clears the errors.
Follow the specific reset procedure outlined in the service manual.
Recalibrate the System:
Attempt to recalibrate the system. If VG errors persist and prevent calibration, note the exact error codes/messages displayed.
Follow the calibration procedure outlined in the service manual to ensure all steps are correctly followed.
Inspect System Logs:
Check the system logs for any specific error messages related to the VG errors. This can provide clues about what might be causing the issue.
Manual Override:
Some units have a manual override for resetting the VG system.

I figured it out. Moved head one to the upper horizontal position (anterior view). Checked it with a level. Pulled the back off the gantry to check the position of the power cable (chance of overstretching if not right). Hard shut down, reboot, successful calibration !

Awesome!
Thanks for posting the fix so others can find it as well!

Addendum: There is a diagram in the Service Manual that shows the default position for the cable chain (should be looped down to about the center of the gantry on the left side, when viewing from the back). Diagram is marked 8-35. Very dangerous if not in this position before shutdown.
