I can not see the scale Icon on the GCI, therefore I am unable to weigh patient. How am I able to return the scale icon to the GCI?

When the scale icon is missing from the GCI (Graphical Care Interface) on a Hillrom TotalCare SpO2RT 2 bed, the bed’s weighing function may be disabled due to configuration or system errors. Here are steps to troubleshoot and restore the scale icon:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check Bed Mode Configuration:

    • Ensure the bed is not in a configuration that disables weighing, such as a standby or service mode. Return the bed to patient care mode if applicable.
  2. Enable Weighing Function:

    • Access the settings menuthrough the GCI:
      • Navigate to Tools or System Settings.
      • Look for an option related to scale or weighing system.
      • Toggle the setting to enable the weighing function.
    • Restart the system if prompted.
  3. Perform a System Reset:

    • Power off the bed for 1-2 minutes and restart it. This can reset minor software glitches.
  4. Inspect Cables and Connections:

    • Check the scale sensor cables and connectors beneath the bed frame for loose or damaged wires. Re-seat any connectors if necessary.
  5. Calibration Check:

    • If the weighing system was recently serviced or calibrated, improper setup could cause the icon to disappear. Refer to the service manual for scale calibration procedures.
  6. Review Error Codes or Alarms:

    • If error codes are displayed, consult the user manual or Hillrom’s service documentation for specific instructions related to scale malfunctions.

Additional Solutions

  • Reset to Factory Defaults: If configuration changes have removed the icon, resetting to factory settings may restore it. Follow the procedure in the service manual, noting that custom settings will be lost.
  • Software Update: Ensure the bed's firmware is up-to-date to avoid software-related issues.
