Error code 68 and serial communication lost

That code usually means the system isn’t talking properly to one of its parts — like the gantry or control box. It’s a communication issue.

Try this:

Shut everything down — system and PC. Wait a full minute. Then power it all back up.

Check the cables — especially the serial or USB-to-serial cables between the computer and the rest of the system. Unplug and plug them back in.

If there’s a USB adapter, swap it with a known good one — those go bad all the time.

If this doesn’t work go into Device Manager on the PC and check if any COM ports have a warning sign or if anything looks weird.

If it used to work and now suddenly doesn’t, it’s almost always a bad cable, a loose connection, or a USB adapter acting up.
