B850 S/5 Computer Interface stop responding data request

Hello everyone

I am trying to retrieve data from a b850 patient monitor using the S/5 Computer Interface. For the connection, I am using a PL2303-based Glink USB RS232 converter -->Female Female Null Modem-->USB-RS232 converter-->Raspberry Pi. Initially, I receive a response when I send a message to retrieve data, but sometimes after 8 minutes, sometimes after 24 minutes, and sometimes after 2 hours, the data flow and response to requests stop. In this case, I cannot get a response again without removing the USB from the error monitor. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? Why is this happening? I can see the USB serial converter device in the system, but the CTS pin on the RS232 converter in the error monitor is constantly at a low level.

Short version: this is almost always a handshaking / flow-control problem, not the monitor.

Most likely the monitor is waiting on CTS that never comes back. Swap the USB-RS232 adapter (FTDI), confirm flow control settings, and this usually goes away.
