Hey Brandon,
I haven't cleaved this specific brand of fiber before but have many times on some other units. There are some handy tools to help make this easier. Look up fiber cleaving an stripping tools. The good tools will be made for specific sizes of fibers. The fiber should have a label somewhere denoting its' gauge. There are some youtube videos showing how to use them.
In a pinch you can use a razor blade. We cut back some of the insulation by sliding the razor along the insulation. Score the fiber with the razor at a 90 degree angle. We aren't trying to cut through, just give it a good scratch. Then with the thumb and forefinger bend that bit and it should snap like a twig. Turn on the laser's aiming beam and shine it on a flat surface. We should have a relatively round spot. Sometimes it's not a clean break and there will be a "tail" sticking out in one direction. We want to avoid that so try try again. It took me hundreds of tries over the years to get decent at it.
Goo Luck!
