Blanket Warmer Temp

Where can I find guidance for the suggested temp of a blanket warmer?

Hi Robert,

According to Blickman, the suggested range would be 90-160 degrees fahrenheit. For the suggested temperature, you would have to contact the joint commission.

Hope that helps!

We use the recommendations of ECRI for 110 degrees Fahrenheit for blankets and 104 degrees Fahrenheit for fluids.

Here at Susquehanna Health we do the same. We use the ECRI recommendation of 110 degree farenheit for blankets and 104 degree farenheit for fluids. More than that we have a policy stating these guidlines and all departments that utilize blanket warmers use this policy.

AORN covers this and the Nursing department should have a blanket warmer policy included in their regular policy manual. The temperature should be standardized throughout the institution and decided by the Nursing Administration or similar medical group. We use 130 F as the temp since lower temps do not satisfy the nurses or patients here and we perform an annual PM with this as a checkpoint on the procedure.
