I just had an Alcon Infinity Phaco start throwing an error that the CPU battery needs to be changed. I also found out from my tech that this machine hasn't been serviced for too long... Gotta love inheriting surprises like this.
Anyway, I need a service manual so I can find where the CPU battery is and how to replace, along with finding out what the PVT is like and whether I can do this in-house or not.

The CPU is buried in the bowls of the system. The INFINITI will run with the CPU dead, but you will get that message every bootup. If you work on the INFINITI and are not certified and the system fails (thru no fault of your own during surgery), how would you explain that to a lawyer? If a system touches a patient, I would highly suggest that you get trained. Just so happens that we teach courses on the ALCON INFINITI and ALCON ACCURUS for PM and Full Service. Let me know if you want to go into the unit to replace the CPU.
Might be interested in training, we have at least three of these in our facility and others that we are responsible for.
This one is now supposed to be dealt with by Tuesday by a factory service tech - and has cases scheduled for it on Wednesday.
