This device fails the self-test at around 30%. The error code is 18 “centrifuge stall”. I hit “yes” to restart the self-test and it fails one or two more times, but eventually passes.
What is the issue? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Yes this is something you should be concerned about. This could be an issue with the motor on the unit. You could have a dead spot in the motor and by basically restarting the self test you are getting luck some times and blowing past the dead spot and the unit is passing.
