Welcome to the future of Dental Sterilization: The STATIM G4, brought to you by SciCan, your infection control specialist.

RE: SciCan - Statim G4

This is an overview training guide on how to perform daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance on your Midmark and Ritter M9 and M11 UltraClave Automatic Sterilizers and M11D AutoClave Sterilizers.

RE: Midmark - Ritter M11D

The Midmark M9/M11 Sterilizer Installation Guide is an overview of the installation steps for the Midmark and Ritter M9 and M11 UltraClave Automatic Sterilizers and M11D AutoClave Sterilizers.

It provides information regarding minimum clearances, ideal locations in your building, and more to ensure the peak performance of your unit.

RE: Midmark - Ritter M11D

This video is an overview of how to operate your Midmark Autoclave; however, the M9/M11 Installation and Operation Manual should always be considered the primary reference source for any information about the Autoclave.

Your autoclave has 4 pre-programmed cycles and 2 programmable cycles. The programmed cycles include: Unwrapped, Pouches, Packs and Handpieces.
Cycle parameters can be found in the Installation and Operations manual.

After verifying that the autoclave has an adequate fill of water and has been loaded properly with sterilization items, close and latch the door. This is done by lifting the door handle and pushing the door closed. While pushing in on the door, slide the door handle down to engage the latch.

The display will show SELECT CYCLE and waits for input from the operator.

If the "Start" button is pressed, ADDITIONAL HEAT is shown on the display. This allows the operator to either pre-heat the unit or extend the drying time on the previous cycle. Pressing the Stop button will end the 'ADDITIONAL HEAT' time.

After pushing one of the standard cycle program keys, the display will show two alternating screens on the LCD display. The first screen shows the name of the cycle, sterilizing temperature and the amount of sterilizing time.

After a brief pause, the second screen shows the type of venting to be used and the amount of drying time.

Next, you'll push the Start button. The display immediately shows the message FILLING CHAMBER, followed by CHAMBER IS FULL when the proper water level is reached.

Now, the unit will begin to heat to the appropriate temperature for the cycle being used. The display changes as temperature and pressure in the chamber changes.

Once the appropriate sterilizing temperature is reached, the display shows the time countdown from the programmed time and monitors the temperature and pressure. During sterilization mode, the heater will cycle on and off.

Just prior to the end of the sterilization cycle, "Ready to Vent" is displayed for 10 seconds and the vent cycle begins. The vent valve opens and steam and water is released back into the reservoir. The display changes as temperature and pressure in the chamber changes.

Caution
Keep clear when the M9 or M11 door is ready to open!
Failure to do so could result in severe burns from steam being released.

An audible signal is emitted to indicate that the door is about to open.
When pressure in the chamber reaches zero, the door actuates to a partially open position, beginning the drying cycle.

The autoclave displays the amount of time remaining for the drying cycle and counts it down to zero.

At the end of this countdown, an audible signal is emitted for 10 seconds indicating that the sterilization cycle is complete.

After sterilization is complete, all items must be handled in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Caution: The processed load and inner surfaces will be hot. Avoid contact with hot surfaces.
Failure to do so could result in serious burns.

Qualified personnel responsible for infection control should prepare a protocol for handling sterilized items.
This protocol should be followed by all personnel responsible for handling sterilized items, and should
include the basics:
• Unwrapped sterilization is not recommended for critical or implantable items.
• Unwrapped items should be transported immediately and aseptically from sterilizer to the point of use.
• Allow items to dry before handling or storage.
• Wrapped items may be stored before use.
• The storage area should be a closed or covered space, away from environmental contaminates or wetness.

Remove trays and cassettes using the Midmark approved Tray/Cassette tool. Hold the tray level and slightly elevated to prevent it from shifting and becoming dislodged.

For more detailed information about operating your Autoclave, please refer to the M9/M11 Installation and Operation Manual.

RE: Midmark - Ritter M9

This video is an overview of its installation; however, always refer to the appropriate technical documentation for the complete list of instructions, safety alerts, and sequence of procedures before conducting any service or maintenance operation.
Inside the autoclave you will find the M911 installation and operation manual, a laminated quick reference guide for cleaning and operation, one bottle of speed clean, four trays and a power cord.
This illustration can be found in the installation and operation manual. It provides critical information for installing the autoclave, including types of support surface, recommended location and minimum clearances around the unit. These recommendations must be followed to ensure optimum performance of your autoclave.
Be sure your unit has the following clearances around it for proper air circulation. Place the unit of a moisture resistant surface such as laminate or stainless steel. The support surface must be level to ensure proper water level in the chamber during operation. Position the unit close to the front edge of the support surface so that the drain tube is easily accessible. If installing the unit beneath a cabinet, shelf or overhang a minimum clearance of 5 inches must be maintained above the unit to allow the operator to change the paper roll if the optional printer is installed.
If there is less than 5 inches of clearance above unit the overhang must not project further than 15 inches from the rear of the M9 or 18 inches from the rear of the M11.
The M9/M11 autoclave operates best in environments where the room temperature is between 68 degrees F and 104 degrees F with less than 80% relative humidity.
M9 and M11 autoclaves are available in either 115 volt or 230 volt AC. It is critical that the voltage delivered to the units be maintained between 104 & 127 volts AC for 115-volt models and between 207 & 253 volts AC for the 230-volts models.
In all cases, it is necessary to use a 3-prong grounded circuit in either voltage configuration. The maximum power consumption is approximately 1500 watts. The autoclave requires a dedicated electrical circuit and should NOT be connected to an electrical circuit with other appliances. After ensuring proper electrical requirements, attach the electrical cord to the back of the autoclave and then into the wall space socket. Now you will want to fill the reservoir with clean distilled water. It is very important that only distilled water be used. Since the autoclave operates with high water temperatures any minerals dissolved in the water will leak out and form mineral deposits. This can prevent valves from opening or closing properly and can also lead to corrosion in the chamber and tubing. The use of distilled water will minimize or eliminate these problems.
After your sterilizer is installed qualification testing using Biological Indicators (BI)s should be performed prior to placing the sterilizer in service. Three consecutive test runs, for each cycle type tested, with negative results from the Biological Indicators provide verification the sterilizer has been properly installed.
For more detailed information about installing your autoclave, please refer to the M9/M11 installation operation manual.
